The Village West Security Liaison, Linda Taylor

There is quite a history in our relationship with the precinct 5 Constable’s office. It goes back 30 years or so when the “North Briar Co-Op” was started. In the beginning there was a donated office space at Town & Country Mall, where the deputies would come and the volunteers would work with them on their scheduled rounds. At that time, there was one deputy at a time that would patrol the area. Country Village was the original member neighborhood but Village West joined in very quickly thereafter.

Our long time liaison is Linda Taylor, who has been involved for well over twenty years. It is her good work that has made our relationship such a great success. A very long time resident, Linda has been on the Board of Directors and on many volunteer committees but her greatest interest has been our communication with the deputies, our Sargent Cessna, and of course our old friend Lieutenant Mitch Hutter. If there is ever a question that relates to our service, Linda is our “Go To” Person. She reports the statistics monthly to the Board of Directors to be published on the website. Our statistics are particularly low, as noted by the HPD officers during their presentation to our residents, earlier in the year at the clubhouse. “It’s no wonder your stats are great; You are in the Constable Co-Op.”

One will notice a Constable Deputy patrolling every day on the streets of Village West. They can be seen several times day and evening. There are three deputies assigned to the Co-op neighborhoods. One deputy has Village West as a primary and is supported by the other two, who have other areas cross-assigned to them (all in the Co-op neighborhoods). The three work closely together and with HPD on any crime reported. It is a dedicated force, only for the neighborhoods in the Co-op and their continued presence is a big reason that we have very few crimes in the neighborhood.

So, a very special thanks to Linda Taylor for her dedication and to the deputies for being our buffer between a safe neighborhood and the urban environment in which we live.
